October 29 2012 For one to succeed, does that person need other people’s advice?

Everyone wants success even if the outcome is painful for themselves or others around them. In order for scientists to succeed, most do experiments, for example, giving people a survey. On the other hand, it would be unlikely for inventors to use the same method as scientists, but they might work in a group of people who have the same idea as them. This leads us to the question, for someone to succeed do they need other people’s advice?
I asked a few of my classmates if we needed someone's advice in order to succeed. One of my friends believed that we do not need anyone's advice in order to succeed for there are moments in your life when you are on your own and need to do things yourself which you could succeed in. On the other hand, two of my classmates thought that we did need someone in order to succeed, especially who has already been in our shoes or is an expert. For example, a beginning swimmer definitely won’t be able to learn how to swim on their own and will need someone to teach him the basics.
I can think of some people who knew what success meant to them. Adolf Hitler thought that success was eliminating the Jews and making everyone respect him. Thomas Edison said that failure leads to success because it teaches what doesn’t work. I’ve heard that Hitler barely took anyone’s advice even though millions of people died during the war. However, Thomas Edison took advice from people around him such as Billy Adams because he was  positive that his light bulb wouldn’t work if he didn’t share his ideas with other people.

Based on these few examples, I realized that people who take advice get better results than those who have it their own way. I believe that those who take advice are definitely more successful because it is better to listen to people who have different ideas than only to succeed with your own idea because everyone in this world thinks differently. We need to succeed not only for ourselves, but also for everyone around us because the world is improving every second.
